WAIMEA — At 4 p.m. March 31, Stanford’s all male a capella music and comedy group will put on a concert at Davies Chapel on Hawaii Preparatory Academy’s upper school campus.
Open to the public, the event will benefit Hawaii Performing Arts Festival’s (HPAF) 2018 Summer Festival.
Rooted in the Stanford tradition wearing cardinal-red bow ties and socks, Fleet Street began in 1981 and remains the only group on campus devoted to the preservation of their school’s rich history of music. They are best known for performing funny songs and sketch comedy written by members. They also have an arsenal of jazz classics and sentimental serenades.
The group has sung all over the mainland, including performances on syndicated talk shows; at the New York City jazz club, Birdland; in Hollywood bars, college lounges around the country; for corporate events; private parties; and on the Stanford campus.
Recently, the university tapped Fleet Street to be its musical ambassadors and to record an entire album of classic fight songs in honor of Stanford’s centennial.
